A Guide To Not Misunderstand The Different Type of Betta Tails

Delta vs. Halfmoon
Greeting! everyone my name is Jay and I have been in this aquarium hobby over 30 years! The real reason why I am creating this blog is because I have seen too many miscommunications or misunderstanding of the type of betta tails. I hope that this article I'm about to write will solve this error that has been going on for years! The most common tails that beginner being misinformation between the (DT) Delta Tail and (HM) Halfmoon Tail. DT is the abbreviation for Delta and HM is the abbreviation for Halfmoon. In order for a betta to be classified as a Halfmoon the tail must be in a perfect 180 degree (Half of a Circle); Anything less will have to be graded as a Delta. Remember that Halfmoon and Delta is the shape of a betta, and it has nothing to do with in term of coloration wise. Pictures below is an example between the two.

Over Halfmoon vs. Rosetail
The second most common error people mislabel these uniquely beautiful bettas is between the (OHM) Over halfmoon and Rosetail. OHM mean the tail of the betta spread out wider than just the degree of 180. OHM tail usually about 200 degrees. As for the Rosetail in regard to the abbreviation, I don't ever recall, being inform, or read anything that says Rosetail has an abbreviation; Therefore, there is no abbreviation for them. Rosetail tail are so wide open that it will form layers overlapping each other. I hope this article will help some of you so that you won't get scammed or being misinform.
