Introduction:

The guppy (Poecilia reticulata), also known as the million fish or rainbow fish, is a member of the family Poeciliidae and, akin to most New World members of the family, is considered a livebearer. Male guppies, which are smaller than females, have ornamental caudal and dorsal fins. Wild guppies generally feed on a variety of food sources, including benthic algae and the larvae of aquatic insect.

Care:

To care for guppy, house them in a planted, 10-gallon or larger aquarium with a 2:3 female-to-male ratio to prevent stress. Maintain a consistent temperature around 70-84°F and stable water parameters, in a wide pH level of (pH 5.5-8.0), with weekly partial water changes. Feed them a varied diet of high-quality flakes, micro pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods, but avoid overfeeding to prevent illness. Their average adult size is about 1" for the male and 1.5" for the female.
